Venus & Serena: Feminist Icons


Venus and Serena Williams are powerful feminist icons and should be role models for many girls because they have risen above all odds and succeeded as African American women professional tennis players.  Born in Michigan, the Williams sisters have competed on the professional level for years and won many awards including the Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open.  The Williams sisters are powerful icons and female athletes who could certainly compete against, with, or defeat male opponents.
